This is a good start. I don't really have anything bad to say but I didn't neccisarily LOVE it either. But thats okay, I don't love most story's.

This is such a cute story! I just love how quaint it is. The writing style is really good, and the dialogue seemed fairly natural. I love the image of the grandpa with the granddaughter on his knee by the fireplace. Perfect. Just a few minor problems at the end of the 2nd part. You used 'grandma' instead of 'grandpa' a few times, and put a period in the middle of a sentence where there shouldn't be one. Otherwise, very good. Honestly, this isn't my favorite genre of story, but this was still really interesting for me to read. Keep writing!
