What makes you think that my novel is aimed at a younger audience? It's's definitely not. I didn't describe what happened in detail since I thought blood and gore would break the mood - initially I described blood pouring from Aldere's chest or something along those lines, but I hated it. It wasn't me trying to be kid-friendly. I think my content warning was evidence enough of that. There's plenty of detailed violence later, don't worry.

I'm also not sure what's cliché about a dark setup. It's not like I started with "It was a dark and stormy night..." or anything like that.

You thought Elorin was a little would you suggest I improve him?
